Freeform Stained Glass Workshop

  • The Arterie LLC 2219 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, #105 Thousand Oaks, CA, 91362 United States (map)

In this introductory stained glass workshop, students will make a piece using a freeform collage method. Steps include assembling a design using scrap pieces, copper taping and soldering. No prior experience or materials needed, just a willingness to play with possibilities. Using a theme of patchwork design, instructor Inessa Illes, has been leading workshops in freeform stained glass since 2024. The class prioritizes accessibility and is designed for beginners to get a handle on the material and test their creative problem solving abilities.

Please note: This workshop caps at 8 attendees and early registration is strongly encouraged.

About the Artist

Inessa Illes is a visual artist practicing in textile, stained glass and illustration in Los Angeles. They received a BFA in illustration and graphic design from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, graduating in 2020. Inessa finds inspiration in the freedom of DIY culture, experimental silhouettes, and the practice of collage and self-adornment as a means of artistic expression. Drawing from familiar imagery and motifs from the early 2000s, the artwork builds a relationship with the viewers and their memories. Often mixing neon shades with primary colors and earth tones, Inessa uses contrasting colors as a source of emotional stimulation. Their work aims to evoke everyday positivity and play.
